6 Tips to Boost Your Resume

Most job markets are incredibly competitive nowadays. You need to stand out as soon as you can when applying for a job. This means having a really good resume is extremely important. These six tips should help you create a resume that really stands out.

Tip 1: Range Up Your Goal Statement

It is important to remember that employers have read hundreds if not thousands of goal statements. Instead of telling them how the job would help you, tell them what you can offer to them. This will immediately make them take an interest in your resume.

Tip 2: Keep It Simple

It's important to be concise and to the point in your resume. Don't waffle or include unnecessary details. Don't worry if your resume seems short, as long as you include all of the relevant details. Being shorter is faster and means less reading for the employer, so work on being specific.

Tip 3: Bring Attention to Transferable Skills

Even if you haven't worked in the job role before, previous skills you have developed may be relevant. It's important to highlight these skills, such as time management or teamwork, so that the employer can see that you'd fit the job role well.

Tip 4: Don't Forget Your Hobbies

If you have a passion, be sure to include it. However, try and make it relevant to the job and what skills it shows, as opposed to just telling the potential employer about your love for playing or reading.

Tip 5: Read the Job Description

Find keywords that you can specifically use in your resume. This makes it more obvious how you meet the criteria for the job role. Another good thing to do is to read the company's About section, as this can help you get a feel for the image and the brand of the company, and this will allow you to show them how you'll add to that brand image.

Tip 6: Customize Your Resume

You can't just send one resume to all jobs, as each job will have different required skills and experience. You need to make sure your resume is specific to the job you are applying for. So going through and editing or changing the resume for each job is a must.

Hopefully, using these six tips, you'll be able to land that job of your dreams.
