Would You Dare? Giant Isopod Ramen Challenge in Taipei! (@懂吃動吃 Foodie)
Have you ever dared to try something truly unique? In Taipei, Taiwan, a ramen shop has created an exclusive dish that only regulars can order: the "Giant Isopod" Thick Seafood Chicken Broth Ramen.
The giant isopod lives in the deep sea, at depths ranging from 170 to 2140 meters, where it is dark and the temperature is around 4 degrees Celsius.
As a carnivorous scavenger, it primarily feeds on dead marine animals like whales and squid. These creatures can grow up to an astonishing 37 centimeters in length.
For preparation, only the stomach and intestines are removed, leaving the yellow glands, which are edible. The meat of the giant isopod is described as having the sweetness of lobster and crab, with a softer texture. The glands have a flavor similar to crab roe, surprisingly delicious and impressive.
