Man Sets Record for Hugging 1,123 Trees in One Hour
Abubakar Tahiru, a 29-year-old man from Tepa, Ghana, is not just an ordinary student. Currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Forestry at Auburn University in Alabama, USA, Tahiru is also a passionate environmental activist who frequently participates in environmental-related activities.
Setting a New World Record
Recently, Tahiru took on a unique challenge at the Tuskegee National Forest in the United States. The task? To hug as many trees as possible within 60 minutes. Tahiru embraced this challenge with open arms, literally. In just one hour, he managed to hug an astonishing 1,123 trees, averaging about 19 trees per minute. This remarkable feat earned him a place in the Guinness World Records, making him the first person to hold this record.
The Rules of the Challenge
The Guinness World Records set a minimum threshold for this challenge: 700 trees within an hour. The rules were strict. Challengers had to tightly hug each tree with both arms and were not allowed to hug the same tree twice. Any damage to any tree would result in disqualification. Tahiru admitted that the challenge was more difficult than he had initially imagined. Not only did he have to move quickly between trees, but he also had to ensure that each hug met the standard requirements. He found the repetitive action of hugging to be quite exhausting.
A Message to the World
Coming from an agricultural family, Tahiru’s motivation for setting this world record was to raise global awareness about the importance of the environment. After achieving the record, Tahiru revealed that he is preparing to collaborate with environmental organizations to promote sustainable forestry projects.
