Legend has it that the idea for the frame came to the Dubai ruler while he was walking in his garden and framed a view with his hands, thinking, "Why not build a frame?"

Built at a cost of over 1.3 billion TWD, the Dubai Frame is 50 stories high and covered in gold plating. It is not just a piece of public art but a historical time tunnel that allows visitors to look back at Dubai's past and forward to its future. The frame is made of glass, steel, aluminum, and reinforced concrete, with intricate patterns on the golden frame that make it shine from afar.

Observation Deck

The top of the frame features a sky bridge that connects the two towers. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Dubai from this vantage point, with the old city to the north and the modern city center to the south. The observation deck also has a transparent glass walkway, offering a 360-degree view of the city. The ground floor houses a gallery and museum where visitors can learn about Dubai's culture and history.

Controversy Surrounding the Frame

Despite its grandeur, the Dubai Frame has not been without controversy. Mexican architect Fernando Donis, who won an international competition with his frame design, claims that Dubai built the frame without his consent and altered his original design. Donis has stated that he was not given a contract or compensation beyond the initial prize money for winning the competition. The Dubai Frame's official website now credits Donis as the designer to acknowledge his contribution.
